What the pitch reading means
The detector estimates your fundamental pitch, maps it to the nearest note in A4=440 Hz equal temperament, and shows your distance from that note.

Pitch detector questions
What note am I singing?
Press Start detector, allow microphone access, and sing or hum one steady note. The large display shows the nearest chromatic note and octave, such as A3 or C♯4.
What is the difference between pitch and cents?
The note name identifies the nearest musical pitch. Cents show how far your measured pitch is from that note: negative is flat and positive is sharp.
Does this pitch detector work on a phone?
Yes. It works in recent mobile browsers that support microphone access and the Web Audio API. The page must use HTTPS and you must allow microphone permission.
Is my voice recorded or uploaded?
No. The detector processes microphone audio locally in your browser. It does not record, upload, store or transcribe your voice.
Is this the same as a vocal range test?
No. This tool identifies the note you are singing right now. The Vocal Range Test tracks your lowest and highest comfortable notes across a session.
Does the detector auto-tune or correct my voice?
No. It only estimates and displays pitch. It does not change your audio, rate your singing, or diagnose your voice.
